Volunteer

The Williamstown Historical Museum welcomes volunteers!

We invite all members of the community to give back by serving as museum greeters so we may keep our doors open for visitors throughout the year.  Williamstown Historical Museum greeters are the key to the museum’s smooth functioning as a cultural anchor in the southern end of town, and our volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization.  As WHM greeters, our volunteers provide a friendly and welcoming environment for visitors and help us to keep our doors open to all for free.  No experience is necessary to serve as a greeter.  Training, support, and volunteer manuals are provided to all volunteer greeters.

Please contact Michael to learn more: michael@williamstownhistoricalmuseum.org or 413-458-2160.

Volunteers who are looking for a way to get even more involved are invited to assist with projects, help plan events, and carry out their own research while at the WHM.  If you are interested in history, would like to be part of a friendly small-town organization, and have been looking for a way to give back to the community, the WHM has a volunteer job for you!   At the museum we provide free access to excellent research resources, charming exhibits, and free public programs related to local history.  With your help as a volunteer you will contribute to this valuable town resource.

We will provide training and support to all volunteers.  In addition to spending time greeting visitors to the museum, our greeters are invited to assist with projects, help plan events, and carry out their own research or personal projects while they are at the museum.  Our greeters will also receive the benefit of training on useful research resources like Ancestry.com, Newspaperarchive.com, Newspapers.com, and the WHM online catalog.

Most of our volunteer greeters work for two hour shifts and their visits to the WHM vary in frequency from once a month to weekly visits.  Might you be willing to consider deepening your connection with your community by serving as a Williamstown Historical Museum greeter?  We hope you will consider working once, twice, or more a month.

If you would like more information about volunteering please contact Michael and we look forward to seeing this year!

Do you enjoy history?  Do you have a passion for, or an interest in genealogy?  The Williamstown Historical Museum counts on volunteers to keep our doors open to the public and help our community members connect to history!  We have jobs for all skill levels, interests and talents.  We invite you to volunteer your time to help our town’s history center!
